What does this mean for employers?

 This bank holiday will operate in the same way as other bank holidaysand employers will need to make the decision as to whether the business is operating as normal or not. Employers may include bank holidays as part of the annual leave entitlement and there is no statutory right to take the bank holiday off. Many businesses will be operating as normal. Of course employers can decide not to operate on this day, at their discretionand then will need to decide what then happens regarding payment for that day. Subject to how the contract of employment is worded, employers may include the additional bank holiday within their current annual entitlement.
