Ikea drivers living in trucks for months

By March 16, 2017Uncategorized

Although not “employment law”, organisations are enthusiastically encouraged to make themselves familiar with Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 to see whether they are required to publish an annual statement: “Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires certain organisations to develop a slavery and human trafficking statement each year. The slavery and human trafficking statement should set out what steps organisations have taken to ensure modern slavery is not taking place in their business or supply chains”.

Hitting the headlines today are the lorry drivers of Western Europe who have given testimony about their poor working conditions, which reflect poorly on the retailers they supply which include IKEA.
